TOURIST INFORMATION CENTRE - NEW MEETING DATE - 28 JANUARY 2010 |
NEW MEETING DATE FOLLOWING SNOW CANCELLED MEETING
Burnham on Sea TIC – the Future? Open Meeting 28 January 2010 7.00 p.m. Town Council Offices, Jaycroft Road, Burnham-on-Sea.
You will probably be aware that the District Council, as part of the need to reduce its budget, is considering the future of the two Tourist Information Centres it runs at Cheddar and Burnham on Sea. The District Council has no budget to continue to run them after the end of this financial year (31 March 2010); without other sources of funding/new ways of providing the service they will close.
The Town Council and District Council are jointly investigating options for the future of the Burnham-on-Sea TIC and are keen to explore the potential for partnerships for running the service with other organisations that depend, to a greater or lesser extent, on tourism. As the Town Council’s budget commitments are to be set within the next few weeks, it is essential that we are able to gauge the extent of interest from other partners as a matter of urgency.
We are holding the meeting on 28 January 2010 to discuss options with interested parties and individuals and would be very pleased if you are able to join us. If you intend to come along, please can you let Hannah Evans at the District Council know (contact telephone number: 01278 435396 e-mail: hannah.evans@sedgemoor.gov.uk), as the Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge, will be providing light refreshments and will need numbers for catering purposes.
We look forward to meeting with you on the 28 January.
Yours sincerely Doug Bamsey, Corporate Director, Sedgemoor District Council Eileen Shaw, Town Clerk, Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council |
