At the annual meeting of Burnham on Sea and Highbridge Town Council, members unanimously elected Cllr Michael Clarke and his wife Maria to be Mayor and Mayoress for a second term of office.

Nominating Cllr Clarke for the position of Mayor for a second term of office, Cllr Neville Jones said that Cllr Clarke and his wife had been wonderful ambassadors for the towns, making some 200 visits to clubs and societies in the towns and as  representatives of the towns at Civic events throughout the County, and he had no hesitation in proposing him for a second term of office, recommending with a wry smile that he should consider “keeping the same Mayoress for the coming year!”

At the same meeting members elected Cllr Ken Smout as deputy Mayor and Cllr Alan Miller as second deputy Mayor.
