Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council held its Annual Meeting on 8th May and voted in a new set of councillors to take on responsibilities for the year ahead. Councillor Bill Hancock accepted the role of Chairman of the Council and Mayor and his wife, Frances will be joining him as Mayoress. Both have lived in Highbridge for many years and are looking forward to a busy year supporting local groups and in particular promoting youth activities.
Outgoing Mayor, Cllr Michael Clarke and Mayoress Cllr Maria Clarke were thanked for all the work they had carried out during their two years in office. Cllr Michael Clarke presented flowers to express his thanks to Lorna Brewer who had managed his mayoral diary and to Sharon Eldergill for her support and help. Cllr Hancock will be announcing his appointments for the year: Chaplain and Cadet at the next meeting in June.
